Due to the world’s growing population we need to produce more food and energy. Harvesting marine resources, farming of different oceanic species and harnessing energy from the oceans are becoming more important in the drive to meet the needs of the future. Our oceans are full of untapped opportunities but harvesting of resources in this blue field requires sustainable management.

This is Åkerblå’s core mission. We provide our clients with knowledge-based advice and data through our interdisciplinary expertise in aqua-medicine, fish health and welfare and environmental and technical services, which they use for sustainable practices and operations in the ocean.

We work closely with industry partners, striving for a healthy marine environment, healthy fish, well designed fish farms and a clean seabed. As a neutral and independent service provider we are able to help our clients by ensuring all required surveys are performed and documentation is in place.

In this way, our clients are able to focus on and optimize their operations, in the knowledge that they are complying with regulations set out by the authorities and Åkerblå positively contributes to sustainable management of marine resources.

Åkerblå is a company with expertise in many different water related fields (both marine and fresh water), with offices all along the Norwegian coastline. Our employees are in daily contact with clients, helping our clients with their numerous operations. Through our expertise and regular contact with clients, we have built up close, long-term collaborations where our fresh and innovative ideas contribute positively to sustainable aquaculture and a healthy marine environment. Our clients benefit through optimized operations and potentially increased earnings, while we maintain our focus on up to-date, state of the art knowledge-based service. Åkerblå promotes both client and employee growth and development through our course portal, Akvademiet. Akvademiets courses help build competencies and establish a strong foundation for knowledge-based decision making.

This is achieved by working with educational institutions at all levels, from upper secondary school to higher education, and committing resources to research and development projects relevant to the sustainability of marine industries.
